Montrose Area School District Foundation

The Community Foundation manages the following scholarships for your school district.  

Agnes & James W. Holbert Scholarship Fund

Established by the children of James W. Holbert, who was in the Army Medical Corps during WWII and participated in the Normandy Invasion.  The scholarship will be awarded to an Elk Lake and Montrose Area High School student, who will participate in the ROTC Program in college or enter a U.S. Military Academy.  

 

Albert Shepherd Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the family of Albert Shepherd to assist a graduate from Montrose Area High School who has been a student in good standing and who will enter college or a post-secondary degree program.  

 

Bradley David Conklin Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in memory of Brad Conklin, a high school student killed in an automobile accident.  Provides a college scholarship to a graduate from Blue Ridge High School or Montrose Area High School.  

 

Cindi Conaty Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by Susquehanna County President Judge, Jason Legg, in honor of his mother to provide a college or post-secondary degree program scholarship for a student from one of the six Susquehanna County high school districts.

 

Cody Albert Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by Dale and Linda Albert in memory of their son Cody to provide a college scholarship to students from Susquehanna County who will major in the Visual Arts, Psychology, or Physical Therapy and who have overcome anxiety, depression, or other adversity.

 

Daniel Arnold Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in memory of Daniel Arnold, killed in action in Iraq in September, 2005.  Provides a college scholarship for a student who has excelled in athletics and has exhibited patriotism for the United States.

 

Daniel Crisman Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in memory of Daniel Crisman, who was killed in the World Trade Towers on September 11, 2001. Provides a college scholarship for a Montrose Area High School graduate.

 

Dr. Raymond L. Bennett Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in memory of Dr. Ray Bennett, a long-time Montrose physician.  Provides a college scholarship for a Montrose Area High School graduate who has excelled academically, and has participated in interscholastic athletics.  

 

Gil Depew Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the family of Mr. Depew to provide a college scholarship for a diabetic student from one of the six Susquehanna County high schools.

 

J. Rodger Lewis Memorial Scholarship Fund

In memory of J. Roger Lewis, a former Montrose Area Superintendent. Provides a post-secondary scholarship to a high school graduate who, has exhibited perseverance and academic responsibility.

 

John Krupinski Memorial Scholarship Fund

In memory of John Krupinski, Montrose High School alumnus, and first Business Manager of the Montrose Area School District.  Provides a college scholarship to a Montrose graduate, who will major in business, economics, or the business application of technology.

 

John J. and Ann Vitale Scholarship Fund

Available to alumni from the six school districts in Susquehanna County who will enter their final year of college or graduate school and who have incurred student debt.

 

Julia A. Frystak Memorial Scholarship Fund

In memory of Julia Frystak, a Montrose student killed in an automobile accident.  Provides a post-secondary scholarship to a high school graduate who excels in academics and participates in athletics. The delegated selection committee is responsible for selecting the recipient in consultation with The Community Foundation. 

 

Margaret Stone Music Scholarship Endowment

Established by Mrs. Stone, Houghton College class of '45, to assist a music major attending her alma mater.

 

Martin T. Dillon Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the Montrose Lions Club in memory of the late Montrose attorney Martin Dillon to provide a college scholarship to a deserving student from Mr. Dillon's alma mater of Montrose Area High School.

 

Matthew Van Fleet Memorial Automotive Scholarship Fund

Established by Matthew's parents and his sister in memory of Matt who passed away in an automobile accident.  The scholarship provides assistance to a student who will study automotive technology. The scholarship is available to students from all the school districts in Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties.

 

Maurice D. Taylor Memorial Music Scholarship Fund

Established by the family of Mr. Taylor who was originally from Montrose and became a nationally recognized music and band instructor. The scholarship will benefit a student from Montrose or Elk Lake who will attend a post-secondary degree program to major in music.   

 

Meshoppen Creek Fund

Established by Reverend Paul Carlson and his late wife Myrtle to provide assistance to a graduating high school Senior from Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania or Pinellas County, Florida who exhibits exceptional promise for their future and who writes a winning essay about their greatest accomplishment in life so far.

 

Montrose Area Chamber of Commerce Pauline MacNeal Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established to honor past Chamber member Mrs. Pauline MacNeal. Provides college tuition assistance to graduating seniors from the high schools in Susquehanna County, as well as home schooled or cyber schooled students, who reside in Susquehanna County and will major in a business related field.

 

Montrose Area School District Educational Scholarship Fund

Established by the School District to provide college tuition assistance for a deserving student who exhibits financial need and who will enter college or a post-secondary degree program.

 

Montrose Business and Professional Women's Scholarship Fund

Provides a college scholarship to a graduate of a Susquehanna County high school who will further his or her education in preparation for entering the business or health care professions, or to an adult seeking further education.

 

Morgan R. Potter Memorial Scholarship Fund

In memory of Morgan Potter, a college student who passed away unexpectedly.  Provides a college scholarship to a Montrose High School graduate who exhibits school spirit, has maintained a B+ Grade Point Average.  

 

Nicholas Severcool Memorial Scholarship Fund

Provides a college scholarship to a Montrose High School student who has overcome personal adversity in order to graduate and go onto a post-secondary degree program.

 

R.E.S.C.U.E. Benjamin B. Stone Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the environmental organization "Return Susquehanna County Under Ecology" to recognize Benjamin Stone. Two college scholarships are awarded each year and are available to Seniors from all of the High Schools in Susquehanna County and from Honesdale, Wallenpaupack Area, and Western Wayne High Schools in Wayne County.   

 

Robert Wood Memorial Scholarship Fund

In memory of Robert Wood, who in 1955 started the Montrose Minute Men Ambulance Service.  Provides a college scholarship to a Montrose High School graduate who will attend college to train for the medical professions or who will attend a post-secondary program to become a Paramedic.

 

Susquehanna County Christmas Basketball Tournament Scholarship Fund

Established by the school districts in Susquehanna County to provide college scholarships to students from the teams that participate in the Annual Susquehanna County Christmas Basketball Tournament every December.  

 

Thomas Conaty Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the family of Mr. Conaty to provide a college or post-secondary degree program scholarship to a student from Blue Ridge, Elk Lake or Montrose Area School Districts. Preference will be given to a student who will pursue a degree in business or a related field.

 

Thomas D. Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the family of the late Mr. Evans who was a coach and faculty member at the Montrose Area School District.  Provides college tuition assistance to a member of the Montrose Girls' Varsity Basketball Team, or a member of the Varsity Golf Team.

 

Tony Bistocchi Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established by the family and friends of Tony Bistocchi, a 2009 graduate of Montrose Area High School who died in a car accident in 2012.  Provides assistance to a Montrose student who will attend college or a post-secondary degree program.
