Peoples Security Bank & Trust Company recently provided $65,000 in assistance to the Lackawanna College Environmental Education Center. The donation was administered by The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains. This assistance will enable Lackawanna College to continue offering environmental education field trips to K-12 students from seventeen school districts in northeastern Pennsylvania. In 2016, thousands of students attended programs at the college’s Environmental Education Center in Covington Township to learn about our natural environment and the habitats and survival skills of animals, diversity in the animal kingdom, as well as energy efficiency and conservation, among other topics.
This assistance continues a tradition of Peoples Security Bank supporting education in northeastern Pennsylvania, and since 2003 the bank has worked with The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains in administering and managing its education and charitable priorities in Pennsylvania and New York. Thomas Tulaney, Executive Vice President of Peoples Security Bank, states “the bank is very pleased to assist Lackawanna College in its mission to educate our local students about our environment and how we can respect it.” Mark Volk, President of Lackawanna College, points out this assistance from the bank will enable the college to continue its work on behalf of our region’s students.
