Palmer Endowment Supports New Milford Rotary

November 16, 2020: Montrose, PA: The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains, a division of Commonwealth Charitable Management headquartered in Montrose, is pleased to announce the recent formation of the John Harry & Bernice Louise Palmer Charitable Endowment. This permanent endowment was established by the family of Mr. & Mrs. Palmer and is intended to provide support to the New Milford Area Rotary Club for its expenses pertaining to educational and literacy programs that benefit Susquehanna County, such as providing dictionaries in the local schools and for the Rotary’s foreign student exchange program. The Rotary International Student Exchange Program was a favorite of John and Bernice Palmer over many years. Their home hosted foreign exchange students from Japan and New Zealand and continue to maintain loving relationships with both former students, to this day. The New Milford Area Rotary continues supporting such exchange programs, most recently hosting a student from France and sending a student to Croatia. Such programs are a key part of establishing the foundation for positive international relations in the world, according to David Palmer, son of John and Bernice. This endowment will also support such local programs as area high school scholarships programs, Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA), and the Interact Club program, building blocks for the development of leadership skills in our area youth. Additional donations are always welcome to help honor Mr. & Mrs. Palmer while also providing enhanced support to the worthy local projects of the New Milford Area Rotary Club. Contributions may be sent to the Palmer Charitable Endowment at The Community Foundation at 270 Lake Avenue in Montrose, PA 18801, or made online at www.community-foundation.org.
