C. Robert Orner Music Memorial Fund

About the fund

Established by Norma Orner, in memory of her husband, C. Robert Orner, who passed away in 2021. Bob was a lifelong music educator and performer. He earned his B.S. in Music Education from Wilkes University (1966) and an M.A. in Music from Marywood University (1972). For nearly four decades, he taught elementary music at Elk Lake School and directed the pit band for 13 fall musicals.

Outside the classroom, Bob performed with many regional groups, including The Church Street Singers, Montrose Harmony Men, Northern Tier Symphony, and several community bands. He worked six summers with Fred Waring at Delaware Water Gap and remained active in church music, radio, and local theater pit bands. His passion for music enriched his community and inspired generations of young musicians. This fund will provide an annual grant to the Susquehanna Symphony Society to support its scholarship program for aspiring young musicians.
