David Hibbard Memorial Scholarship

Established by the Fairdale Community Methodist Church and the family and friends of Mr. Hibbard to provide assistance to a graduating Senior from Elk Lake High School or Montrose Area High School who has exemplified community service and who will matriculate at college or a post-secondary degree program.

The David L. Hibbard scholarship was created by the members of the Fairdale Community United Methodist Church along with donations from Mr. Hibbard’s family and friends.

David was a long standing member of the Fairdale Community United Methodist Church and during his lifetime served on numerous committees within the church and was for many years President of the Church Board. Dave participated in all fund raising events and would even auction off any remaining supplies at the end of the events. Dave was a driving force to the success of any fundraiser he assisted with and gave full commitment to any events he participated in.

Dave gave huge support to his surrounding community. He was a Boy Scout Master; 40 year member of the F&AM Harford Lodge #445, Hop Bottom, PA; coached boys baseball for 19 years: was an active member of the Lawton Senior Center: 48 year member of the Fairdale Grange #1157 and served as Master for 23 years of them; was a member of the Montrose Area School Board for 14 years and took great pride in being able to hand all of his children their high school diplomas.

This scholarship is created to honor David’s memory by being awarded to an applicant that exemplifies community service.
