Harvey Zelkowitz Memorial Scholarship
About the fund
Harvey Zelkowitz taught 11th and 12th grade English at Blue Ridge High School for over 20 years. He was loved and respected because he demanded hard work and deep thinking. His classes were intense conversations about literature, philosophy, and life. He was known not only for his dynamic and thought-provoking discussions, but also because he demonstrated that he truly cared about his students, as he went out of his way to help guide them and develop their confidence. The family of Harvey Zelkowitz established the scholarship fund in memory of their beloved Father, Husband and Teacher. The scholarship will be awarded to a high potential Blue Ridge senior who submits a winning essay about how they have faced and dealt with adversity in their own life, and what they now dream for their future.
