John Krupinski was born and raised in Montrose, and graduated from Montrose High School in 1958. He was a well rounded scholar and athlete who participated in baseball, basketball, and concert choir. He was an outstanding basketball player who for four years utilized his famous jump shot to score many points for his team.

John attended Penn State University and Pierce Business School in Philadelphia prior to joining the Naval Reserves. After serving his country from 1962 to 1964 in the Active Reserves, John was hired by the Montrose Area School District as its first official Business Manager; a post he held for sixteen years prior to his death. He also served as School Board Secretary for a period of time as well. Throughout his career John strived to obtain perfection by working dilligently and serving the public with knowledge and kindness. No problem that presented itself was too insurmountable for him. He would always handle it in his friendly, good-natured way.

John was a wonderful husband and devoted father of three daughters, Kathy, Amy, and Johna, who also graduated from Montrose in the years 1980, 1983, 1993 respectively. At the time of his death John’s family, and many close friends and colleagues, collected donations to establish this scholarship which is intended to perpetually benefit graduates of John’s alma mater who have the same goals and aspirations that he did.
