Rusty Ely Memorial Endowment

Many local citizens fondly recall talented landscaper and stone mason Rusty Ely who passed away in March 2017. His remarkable work adorns many locations in northeastern Pennsylvania and beyond and those fortunate enough to have a Rusty Ely wall or patio possess something of distinction that will last for generations. Rusty was a hard worker and fine craftsman with a reputation for his big heart and winning smile. He was involved with many local organizations and activities, but his family always came first.

To honor his memory Rusty’s family has established the Russell Ely Memorial Endowment with The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains. This permanent charitable endowment will provide support to the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center for its general purposes to continue to provide for the education and opportunities of students and adults from Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties. Rusty’s legacy of craftsmanship will live on in the graduates of the Technology Center, a sentiment that would most certainly please him.

Additional donations have already been provided by Quality Deer Management Association and the National Wild Turkey Federation, two organizations that benefited from Rusty’s influence. Also, a portion of the proceeds from this past year’s annual pie sale in memory of Alayna Ely (Rusty’s niece), which has become a community endeavor, has also been generously donated by the Guy David Ely family. To honor Rusty and to help future generations of Technology Center students, donations to the Russell Ely Memorial Endowment may be sent to The Community Foundation at 270 Lake Avenue Montrose, PA 18801 or made online at www.community-foundation.org. Rusty would be pleased.
