About the fund

Established by Tunkhannock alumni from the class of 1966 to provide tuition assistance to a deserving student to attend college or a post-secondary degree program.

Application Period

Mid-November to Mid-March

From the Donor:

The Tunkhannock High School Class of 1966 established a scholarship with the aid of The Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains to honor their fiftieth anniversary since graduating from good old THS. Any college, trade school or military bound seniors from the current TAHS graduating class are encouraged to apply for consideration of the scholarship by filling out an application form through the Community Foundation of the Endless Mountains. The applicants are then judged on their worthiness based on their resume, financial need, intended college major, class rank, grade point average, school activity involvement, community involvement, volunteer involvement, professional job experience and other information that the applicants provide on their application. The redacted applications are then emailed to roughly fifty alumni from the THS Class of 1966. The alumni are asked to read over the anonymous redacted applications and then email back their choices of their top three candidates for consideration. Roughly forty percent of the alumni that were sent redacted applications respond back. Three points are awarded for their top choice, two points for their second choice and one point for their third choice. When all the points are tabulated, the recipient is announced at the annual Tunkhannock Area School District Senior Awards Night. Listed below are the previous recipients.
